Education in Algeria
Algeria is far from attaining total literacy, as of now, but figures are on the path of improvements. Approximately 70% population 15 years and above of age is literate. But there is a large void between male and female literacy, the figure is higher for males 78.8% as against 61% for girls. Thus besides concentrating on literacy, the Algerian government also needs to give focus on female literacy, so as to avoid gender biasing and other societal troubles. The Nine Year school system is compulsory in Algeria, which begins when a child attains age of 6 in official records.
